Hello everybody, we are writing this to tell you all about our club. We are a retirement club within the Daughters of Charity in Community Residential Services Dublin. There are 19 ladies in our group and we always welcome more who are 65 or over or retired from work. We are now in our group for seven years and we love it. We meet on the first Friday of every month in Huntstown Community Centre. We meet for two hours with a planned activity such as bingo, jewellery making, art, crafts and karaoke. After the activity we have lovely tea and scones baked by the ladies who work at the Centre. In January every year there is a planning meeting and each house looks after an activity each month. As well as the meetings on the first Friday we also have trips out to parks, concerts and shows. So far we have been to Powerscourt, Belvedere House in Mullingar, Áras an Uactaráin, the Mansion House for our Christmas party and a trip to Belfast. Last summer we did a mystery tour which was great fun. We then had our dinner in the Grand Hotel in Malahide, which we all love.
We also have a barbecue each year which is lovely. We have been to many shows. The next show we are going to is Joseph in the Grand Canal Theatre in Dublin. We also have a trip planned for Kilkenny so we will be busy. We love our club and really look forward to it each month. We all have great fun and can have a good chat about what is going on in our community. The main thing we like to do is have fun and enjoy ourselves. You can see this from the photographs which were taken last year at our barbecue.
